Art and Architecture
The Markthal is a stunning example of contemporary architecture, characterized by its unique arch shape that resembles a giant horseshoe. The building is made predominantly of glass and concrete, allowing natural light to flood the interior. One of its most striking features is the mural painting titled "Cornucopia", which adorns the ceiling. Spanning an impressive 11,000 square feet, this colorful artwork showcases a cornucopia of fruits, vegetables, and flowers, celebrating the abundance of food. Often referred to as the “Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam,” it is a testament to the marriage of art and architecture, inviting visitors to gaze upwards in wonder.Local Culture and Traditions
