About The Verlasce Roman Amphitheater

The Verlasce Roman Amphitheater - Venafro | Secret World Trip Planner

The 110-meter by 85-meter diameter elliptical facility could accommodate up to 15,000 spectators. It is very old, dating back to the 1st century AD. The Verlasce , along with the "Parlascio" of Lucca is the only one in Italy to have these characteristics. Today the Verlasce presents itself with superimpositions of buildings that over the centuries have modified the original structure that at that time housed gladiators. For years the structure was used by farmers for animal storage. To visit it, just arrive in Venafro, and a few dozen meters from the crossroads that winds the roads to Rome and Naples are the three points of the access roads.
